Relocation Columbus, Georgia

So you’re thinking about relocating to Columbus Georgia? Perhaps you’ve received a job offer from one of our local major employers, you might be PCS’ing through the military, or perhaps you’re interested in moving closer to take advantage of education or health services… whatever your reason for moving to Columbus, Georgia, we’d love to share a little information with you.

Columbus, Georgia in Muscogee County is the largest city central to many suburban and rural areas. Locals like to jest lightly that “just about anything you want to get to is 20 minutes away” — whether that’s Bibb City, Fortson, Fort Benning, The Liberty District, Cataula, Midtown, Uptown, or Midland. With an interconnected series of highways, it’s not too hard to shoot from one part of the city to the other, and we’re far from suffering the big city traffic of Atlanta or Birmingham.

Our town provides a little something for everyone. Athletes and outdoorsy-types will love our urban white water rafting experience, zip lines, riding and hiking trails, hunting grounds and parks. Are you a lover of the arts? Columbus houses the state theatre of Georgia, the Springer Opera House, the historic Liberty Theatre, The Bo Bartlett Museum, The Ma Rainey Museum, and the Columbus Museum. We have wonderful resources for history buffs as well, with a Black History Trail, multiple historic homes and mills, an active Historic Preservation Society, as well as the National Infantry Museum and National Civil War Naval Museum. If you’re searching for a life of relaxation and wellness, we have multiple yoga studios, a weekend market with fresh seasonal harvests, and restaurants and shops that provide organic and vegetarian fare.

Looking for more information about Columbus? We do have four seasons (though some of them last longer than others), and our average annual rainfall of about 46 inches. It rarely snows (but when it does, you’re almost guaranteed a snow day), and our Springs are bright and delightful. Find more weather statistics by clicking this link.

Looking for employment in Columbus, Georgia? We have several large employers, a couple of which are Fortune 500 companies. Additionally, as Y’allywood (an endearing nickname for Georgia’s burgeoning film industry) expands, you may find more opportunities behind the camera and on the sound stage in our community.
